While visiting Chester Engineers World Headquarters, on August 4, 2011, The Honorable Hanna Bisiw, Deputy Minister –Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing from Accra, Ghana welcomed the opportunity to learn more about the scope of services offered at Chester while also exploring opportunities to partner with Chester in the future.

"The number one priority of our President is water, in fact, our President has said when he is done he wants the people of Ghana to remember him for water because he believes when you have water you have everything." Dr. Bisiw also emphasized that Ghana's President John Evans Atta Mills vows to solve the country's sanitation and water crisis and is focused on finding viable and long term solutions to help provide clean drinking water to communities in Ghana.

The lack of clean drinking water and sanitation systems is a severe public health concern in West Africa, contributing up to 70% of diseases in this region. Consequently, households without access to clean water are forced to use less reliable and hygienic sources, and often pay more. "We have a lot of water bound diseases, and this greatly impacts our citizen's health and productivity," said Dr. Bisiw. "We need to have good drinking water for the people of Ghana and they shouldn't have to walk so far to get it." Dr. Bisiw added.

That is why Dr. Bisiw's visit to Chester is very significant and timely; she says her government is excited about exploring ways to collaborate with Chester on how the company can provide long term solutions for Ghana's water sanitation and hygiene challenges. "I met with the President, and he is focused on finding water delivery solutions and we believe Chester offers some of the all-encompassing services that might be able to help us achieve our goals."

Chester President and CEO, Robert O. Agbede, echoed Dr. Bisiw's excitement and sentiment regarding the critical need to immediately help Ghana with its daily struggle to acquire clean water. "Ghana is one of the emerging economies in the world, and Chester is positioned to help the people of Ghana build on its growing and robust economy by assisting the citizens of Ghana with their very serious water woes."  Mr. Agbede and members of the executive team at Chester shared with Dr. Bisiw an overview of Chester's Total Water Management (TWM) approach. Total Water Management is unique to Chester Engineers; this process efficiently manages water usage across the project life-cycle from source development through treatment and disposal. Chester's water experts utilize innovative technologies which emphasize recycling and reuse of water to significantly reduce consumption and create a sustainable, cost-effective program.

Mr. Agbede, who is also a West African native shared with Dr. Bisiw his sincere commitment and devotion to helping to find total water solutions for Ghana. "I believe this is a history making opportunity, and Chester is poised and prepared to do its part in helping to make sure the citizens of Ghana have access to clean drinking water. We can provide reliable solutions to treat contaminated water. I sincerely believe all citizens deserve access to safe water and sanitation. I appreciate Dr. Bisiw, President Mills and the citizens of Ghana for giving Chester Engineers an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities on this very important issue."
