Chester Engineers is assisting the Owner’s developer and program manager with design and construction management of the $20 million facility. The two-story building will be located on the eastern edge of Downtown Pittsburgh at the corner of Liberty Avenue, 10th Street and William Penn Way - diagonally across from the Westin Convention Center Hotel. This stunning icon, which will serve to anchor the eastern border of the Cultural District, will change the face of Downtown Pittsburgh.

- 67,000-square-foot facility
- A multi-purpose room that can be used for visual and performing art and community-based meetings and events.
- A permanent exhibition gallery devoted to Western Pennsylvania’s African American cultural history.
- A changing exhibition gallery for the work of current African American visual artists and those of African descent.
- A Music Café featuring live Pittsburgh-based and national performances as well as food of the African Diaspora.
- A gift store.
- A 500-seat proscenium theater for performances by local, national and international artists.
- Classrooms and educational activity spaces for families, school children and adults.
