Construction Management Services for 3 PNC Plaza

Construction Management Services for 3 PNC Plaza

CLIENT:          Oxford Development
LOCATION:    Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Construction of the first skyscraper to be built in downtown Pittsburgh in nearly 20 years was managed by a joint venture team that involved Chester Engineers.

The joint venture construction management team provided oversight of several key subcontracts for the core and shell phase of 3 PNC Plaza, a $100 million, 25 story residential-retail-office tower.  As part of the core and shell segment, Chester was responsible for the procurement and administration of deep foundations, waterproofing, fireproofing, site improvements, landscaping, masonry, exterior stone façade, and building specialties.

3 PNC Plaza will be home to the law firm of Reed Smith Armstrong, as well as the luxury Fairmont Hotel, 30 upper level condominiums, a health club and 360,000 square feet of office space.

A movie theater, restaurant and retail shops will occupy the ground floor level.  When completed, the building will be a Gold level LEED-certified building, with a number of green technologies and techniques used throughout, including water efficient low flow fixtures, a construction waste management plan and the use of certified wood and recycled materials.
